Dr. Celestino Ruiz, full professor at Purdue University for 30 years and now Professor Emeritus of Purdue, in cooperation with faculty members of several universities in the United States and faculty members at the School of Philology at the Universidad de Costa Rica and Universidad Complutense de Madrid founded Modern Language Studies Abroad organization (MLSA) 30 years ago. MLSA’s goal and mission was to create the best graduate and undergraduate academic programs at a price to make it possible financially for more students to participate in the study abroad experience in Spain and Costa Rica. The response to our graduate and undergraduate programs has been overwhelming. Over 2,000 universities have sent students to our programs and over 20,000 university students and high school teachers in the USA have participated in our programs.
MLSA has one of the best records concerning student services, academic programs, and prices.
Student Services: MLSA has more staff working on site than other organizations, and our primary commitment has always been and will always be to the students. This is reflected in a strong support and a friendly, individualized environment.
Academic Programs: Students can take classes at very prestigious universities: the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the Universidad de Costa Rica, and the Universita di Firenze, with award-winning faculty and scholars. Participants in our programs will be able to take courses toward BA, MA., Ph.D degrees, although a major in Spanish is not required. Students can choose from both graduate and undergraduate courses in language (all levels), literature, culture, civilization, linguistics, methodology, music, theater, business, and more.
Prices: All our programs represent an excellent value for the money. In spite of increases in the cost of study abroad programs, MLSA has been able to keep prices down and very reasonable. MLSA has been the most respected resource helping thousands of students to study in abroad at the most affordable prices.
Students can save between $500 and $1,500 in comparison with other programs. Prices start at $1,985 and include: 4-9 credits depending on length of program (graduate & undergraduate, transferable to most universities in the US), ROOM AND BOARD, many CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, and some excursions.
