ELE USAL Costa Rica Spanish Language School is part of the Universidad de Iberoamérica (UNIBE), a leading private university committed to providing integral healthcare education and promoting academic excellence, research and humanistic vision to students, who will be capable of generating and leading changes to contribute to the development of the local and global society.


In 2018, with the support of the School of Spanish Language of the University of Salamanca, ELE USAL Costa Rica starts teaching courses of Spanish as a Foreign Language with a comprehensive approach that integrates the four skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) and the communicative competencies needed by the students, all of this, in the beautiful country of Costa Rica.


Costa Rica is a small country of Central America, with a population of 4,7 million and with a diverse and varied climate (24 C° average). It is well known for its environmental policies, scenic beauty and biodiversity: Costa Rica possess approximately 6% of the world’s biodiversity. This friendly country is also known for its peace and no military regime policy. It abolished its military forces in 1949 and since then has placed high priority in education. In other words, Costa Rica, rather than having an army full of soldiers, has an army full of teachers.

$100 application fee is due at the time of application, no exceptions. Late applications are accepted; however, please note that partial or full payment of the program fee may be due at the time of application. A $200 late fee is applied to all applications that are not postmarked by the respective deadline date.

WHAT'S INCLUDED*

  •  Tuition:  Students receive 6 graduate or undergraduate credits for 4-weeks and 12 credits for 8-weeks


  • Grades: Official Transcript from the UCR or USAL UNIBE*

  • Housing: Students stay with host families


  • Board:  Students receive 2 meals per day

  • Pre-departure orientation and services


  • Airport pick-up for students who arrive at the designated time on the arrival date

Students may participate in optional excursions for an additional fee.  These excursions includes a Volcano and Waterfall, a Cruise, and a Coffee Plantation.

COURSES AT USAL UNIBE

​​MLSA OFFERS THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM IN THE SUMMER AT USAL UNIBE:

  • REGULAR PROGRAM - SUMMER II (JULY): 4 WEEKS


Through MLSA's programs at USAL UNIBE, students can receive 6 graduate credits during the summer programs. Students can take courses for credit or non-credit; however, the fee will be the same.


All the classes will be conducted in the morning, Monday through Friday. There will be two long weekends with no classes on Friday. All cultural activities and excursions will be conducted in Spanish.


The following courses will all be offered during the regular summer session (Summer II) with a MINIMUM OF 6 STUDENTS registered in a class. 


Course offerings are subject to change due to enrollment and changes in teaching faculty at the host institution.​

 ​At UAN, courses are offered in the following areas: Spanish Language, Literature, Culture, Methodology, Linguistics, Art, Communications, Marketing, Business, History, Sociology.  Courses are taught in Spanish and some electives in English by full-time faculty members from Antonio de Nebrija. Please note, some courses may require a minimum of 8-10 students registered.
