MLSA offers international internships and volunteer experiences in San Jose, Costa Rica under the mentorship of an MLSA supervisor and field supervisor. These opportunities are established in cooperation with host companies, institutions, enterprises, where the student works to gain academic experiences in a professional environment. Internships may be coordinated with your university for academic credit or completed for non-credit.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FEES

 FOUR-WEEK INTERNSHIP

HALF ACADEMIC & HALF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

$3,970.00


Make the most of your international education experience by completing the four-week Summer I or Summer II program at the Universidad de Costa Rica and extending your stay with an internship for a total of eight weeks or more. This program is ideal to gain valuable linguistic skills and put them into practice in a business setting.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • Internship opportunities investigation prior to selection

  • In-Country Services


  • Housing in a host family


  • Board (2-3 meals per day dependent upon work schedule) for the period of the internship.


  • Airport pick up* dependent on internship


  • Field supervisor on-site (assigned by host organization)


  • MLSA Internship supervisor on-site


  • On-site orientation (neighborhood orientation by an MLSA supervisor)


  • Coordination between your field supervisor, MLSA supervisor and home university/institution


  • Academic advising and counseling for the duration of the internship


  • Personal support and assistance from US staff before, during, and after the internship


  • Field Experience


  • Evaluation of your internship by the field supervisor and MLSA internship supervisor


  • Excursions or activities organized when available

NOT INCLUDED

  • Airfare


  • Local transportation, such as in-country daily commuting to and from work or local travel


  • Airport pick up *In most cases, airport pickup is arranged by the MLSA supervisor or host family. MLSA will notify students if for any reason it cannot be provided.


  • Spending money


  • Personal expenses (students will need roughly $200 a week for personal expenses)


  • Travel and work health insurance
